- 1894: 2nd June. Watford Observer, page 4. "The Serious Charge Against a Salesman. At the Old Bailey on Tuesday [28th May] Esau Cumming [1842 Ilsington Devon, Carpenter and Joiner], a tradesman of Lower Road, Harrow answered the charge of indecently assaulting Ada Cooley, a girl lately in his services as general servant. Mr Geoghegan, who defended, objected to the evidence produced as to the girl's age, and the jury taking the same view the case was dismissed. The charge against the artist for alleged criminal assault at the Recreation Ground, and remitted from Edgware, was also dimissed on the ground of insufficient evidence."
