- "The 1881 census has Frederick aged 19 living at 23 Herbert Street, Hemel Hempstead. The 1891 census has a misprinted name (Frederick E Nolfieler) aged 29 yrs living with Sarah A (aged 31yrs of Edlesbrough) The 1901 census has Frederick living at 65 Bury Road, Hemel Hempstead with his children Gertrude, Herbert, Reginald and Sidney. Also living with them is a Boarder Maria Ajello aged 35 from Dymock in Glos. Frederick married Maria Hancock Ajello in 1905. 3/12/07
Note: It appears that Emma Jane was christened Emma Jane Oldfield Sheldon on 5th Oct 1870. Also christened on the same day was her brother Frederick Edward Oldfield Sheldon. As Emma & Frederick's mother Emma Flitt / Sheldon never actually married Frederick Oldfield, are we to assume they were adopted by him? Either way, there is no biological link to Emma or Frederick's children. It appears that they kept the Oldfield name. NOTE: 23rd June 2008 Discovered Arthur's death as recorded in BMD 3a/59 Dec - Hendon. This means he did not father Emma Jane. Having dug a little deeper, I found that Frederick Edmund is shown as born AprQ1861 3a/324 but registered as Frederick Edmund FLITT (his mother's maiden name). The dates would suggest that Frederick Edmund was the son of Arthur Sheldon, but that Arthur died before Frederick was born." (Lawrence Shave).
