"My father told me that his 2xg-aunt Catherine Varney (b1831 Chilton, Bucks), daughter of John Varney (1806 Bicester-1886) and Martha Perkins (1800 Bucks-1849), married David Collier and had children. Several Varney women worked as servants so I found it conceivable that Catherine married David Collier, a servant, 1859 at Clerkenwell (bmd). However your discovery of the 1861 census entry may scupper my theory; I have not seen the scan but I cannot imagine that the name Catherine could be misread as Sarah. In your tree David married 2 women from Chilton, Bucks or Oxon. That seems to be a remarkable coincidence; Chilton is a small village in Bucks." (Michael Avery)
