Notes
- "Wm. COOK, born in GG in 1784 married Catherine MORTON (dau. of William MORTON), born 1788 of Flamstead, in 1808 by Licence in GG. This Wm. was a "farmer"; he was buried on 14/2/1838, aged 55 at Grist House Farm, GG. They produced:George, b.22/1/1811, bp.3/3/1811 in GG&Nettleden; he was buried on 19/3/1838, aged 27, at Grist House Farm; then Thomas, b.6/9/1812, bp.11/10/1812 in GG; then Eliz.,b.24/4/1813, buried on 30/5/1834 at Grist House Farm; then Margarett, b.30/4/1816; then Sarah, b.23/11/1817" (Mike Cordery).
"William COOK, farmer, GG, parish HH, married Kitty ?, b.1788, buried on 25/9/1830 ,aged 42, in HH; they had (all in GG) Reuben, b.1/5/1815, bp.28/5/1815; then Charlotte [!], b.8/12/1818, bp.16/5/1819, buried 21/6/1840,aged 21 in Flamstead; then William, b.30/3/1820, bp. 9/7/1820; then John, b.12/9/1821, bp.16/12/1821; then Emma, b.10/11/1824, bp.2/2/1825; then Josia, b.25/12/1825, bp.28/3/1826; then Matthew, b. 1/11/1826, bp.17/6/1827; then Frederick, bp. 28/6/1830. In the 1881 census I found Emma, a straw plaiter and brother Matthew, a painter, living in 'Cottage', Flamstead with 2 sisters, Mary Ann and Margaret COOK (who?)."
There is also William Cook ch 14/7/1793 GG f=William m= Elizabeth Latchford (C136101), but William 1791 seems more likely because it would be the reason that James 1798 GG knew Mary Ann. Her sister Kitty was his second cousin!
Perhaps Wills can prove the choice of William 1791.
1855(Matthew's wedding): Farmer.
