- John Wade was a successful auctioneer with at least one partner; they worked in the area of Bow. It is said that the partner did something rotten. A lot of money was lost, so John and family, in much reduced circumstances, moved to Westbourne Park, near Paddington. Marion Wade and her sister Annie (Moor) had to do dress making in the basement of their house to make ends meet. (Anne Cox)
